Printing Benefit

As part of BAAP’s free-of-charge, self-help membership Publication Benefit Program, BAAP volunteers and members organize a Printing Benefit to fill printing requests from BAAP members. BAAP members learn the skills of printing from volunteer press operators and other trained volunteers, producing their own printed materials. BAAP uses all donated labor and resources, including paper and ink, to fill BAAP members’ requests.

Bindery

A pencil sketch drawing of BAAP Board of Directors members and master press operator Edward Patterson leaning up against a table and looking at the Ryobi offset press.

I chose to participate at BAAP because I believe in the organization's mission and the positive impact it has on individuals and the community. Being involved allows me to contribute to a supportive environment where people can learn, grow, and connect over shared interests in printing. Teaching printing skills is vital because it provides individuals with practical knowledge that can be applied both creatively and professionally. My father taught me the fundamentals of printing at the early age of 7. By learning the art of printing, people gain valuable skills that encourage self-expression, craftsmanship, and even potential career opportunities. BAAP is a vital organization in the community, serving as a hub for education, creativity, and collaboration. It fosters a sense of belonging among members and helps preserve the tradition and skills associated with printing, ensuring that these practices continue to enrich the community for years to come.
